Jessica Chastain

JessicaJessica Michelle Chastain (born March 24 1977) is an American actor and producer. Her films that focus on feminist themes are her mainstay. She has been awarded numerous honors, including an Academy Award as well as the Golden Globe Award. Time magazine listed her as one of the 100 most influential individuals worldwide in 2012. Chastain began acting at an early age. In 1998, she made her debut on stage in the role of Shakespeare's Juliet. After studying acting at Juilliard School, she was offered a talent deal by John Wells. She was a frequent guest star on several television shows and was a part of several stage productions. Her film debut came in Jolene (2008) at 31 years old. In 2011, Chastain achieved her breakthrough through six film projects, including The Tree of Life (2011), Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2012). Her roles in these films included an aspirant socialite and CIA analyst, she earned Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). More commercial success was seen in the science fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015), and the dark film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain was recognized for her performance as a strong-willed woman such as in the dramas Most Violent Years (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017). She also appeared in the television miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (1921). After her role as Tammy Faye Bakker, she received the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21) and Tammy Wynette from The Eyes of Tammy-Faye. Chastain is the founder and investor of Freckle Films, a production company that encourages diversity in film. She is vocal about mental illness, gender equality and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo is her husband.
